The most important annual event for Idiopathic Hypersomnia is the International Idiopathic Hypersomnia Awareness Week® hosted by Hypersomnolence Australia. It is held annually in the first full week in September. In 2018 it will be held from 3-9th September.
It is the mission of Idiopathic Hypersomnia Awareness Week® to raise awareness and to help improve the level of education of Idiopathic Hypersomnia among the general public, Hypersomnia patients and medical professionals.

The 2018 Idiopathic Hypersomnia Awareness Week (IHAW) we will be getting back to basics. It will be raising awareness of Idiopathic Hypersomnia, the effect it has on a sufferer’s day to day life and the challenges and limitations of current treatments.
Understanding how a chronic illness affects someone is difficult for anyone that doesn't experience it. The IHAW wants to show people what living with Idiopathic Hypersomnia is like. The aim will be to translate your thoughts and feedback into posters and stories that will be shared during the IHAW.
